The VN-Index gained another 0.24 per cent Wednesday morning to close at 461.13 points, but decliners still outnumbered gainers by 114-94.
On the HCM City Stock Exchange, trading value declined 19 per cent over yesterday to VND541.8 billion (US$25.9 million) with just 27.9 million shares changing hands.
Blue chips performed erratically. While Vietinbank declined 1.4 per cent, Eximbank (EIB), Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Hoang Anh Gia Lai Company (HAG) and Hoa Phat Group (HPG) dropped by less than 1 per cent; Masan Group (MSN) rose over 3 per cent, Sacombank (STB) was up 0.7 per cent and PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) finished up 0.5 per cent.
With nearly 1.3 million shares exchanged, both Saigon Securities Inc (SSI) and Sacombank (STB) were the most active stocks today on the southern bourse.

STB closed up at VND14,000 ($0.67) and SSI closed up 0.4 per cent to VND22,500 ($1.08).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index finished today unchanged at 91.47 points.

Both trading volume and value dropped by around 21 per cent to just 24.55 million shares worth around VND351.6 billion ($16.8 million).

Advancers outnumbered decliners by 157-104.

VNDirect Securities Company (VND) became the most heavily traded share with over 1.8 million shares changing hands, closing up 1.3 per cent at VND15,200 ($0.73).
